Dr. Birts earned his Doctorate in the field of counseling in 1999. Highlighting his list of certifications above, he is a:

 Certified Prevention Specialist under the Texas Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors

 Certified Administrator/Instructor for the Texas DWI/Intervention & Drug Offenders Education Program by the Texas Commission on Alcohol & Drug Abuse (TCADA)

 Certified Anger Management Master Instructor for the Conservatory of Anger Management Instructors

 Certified Prevention of Aggressive Behavior Instructor

 Licensed Pastor

 Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist under the National Board of American Academy of Forensic Counselors

Dr. Birts is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army & U.S. Navy who holds the title Master of the Martial Arts.

Since 1992 Dr. Birts has occupied a variety of administrative positions and clinical directorships. He occupied the roles of Youth Counselor/Motivational Speaker and Board Member for “Operation Uplift” & “Project Literacy” in (Texas); Clinical Director & Director of Needs Assessment & Referral for Serenity Healthcare Systems at (Riverside General Hospital, Houston Texas); CEO & Clinical Director/Instructor for BANCRS (Birts & Associates National Counseling & Referral Services, Phila; PA/Camden New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, Midland, Galveston Texas); and he is the founder and Pastor for Courage To Change, Inc. A Faith-Based Residential Program that is now International opening up transitional houses in the Caribbean.

Dr. Birts is well known for his enthusiastic and dynamic presentations on Drug & Alcohol Abuse, Domestic Violence Prevention and ‘How To Have Successful Relationships’. He has been a noted instructor for Prevention of Aggressive Behavior in Hospital Emergency Rooms across Texas and Pennsylvania, including numerous probation departments in these states as well.

To his merit, Dr. Birts has greatly contributed his time and efforts to benefit societies “ less fortunate” and, to that end has been awarded the 3rd Senatorial District Certificate of Recognition, by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for being in CODAAP’s Community Drug Prevention Network. The purposes for which the Corporation is organized are to perform

charitable activities.) Specifically the Corporation is organized to operate a

charitable service center for the homeless, and for the benefit of individuals on

probation or parole. The Corporation shall operate one or more facilities to help

these individuals with job skills and education, to provide a place for shelter until

the individual is able to take his or her place in society, to cultivate the individual

morally and spiritually, to provide outreach ministries, and to help the individual

unite with family members in society.
